The festival opens once again with a free event in the award-winning setting of Priory Place. You can enjoy food and drink in one of the adjacent bars and restaurants or just chill out to the music from two of the best of our local bands.
Dave Speedy leads this dynamic big band drawn from the cream of local musicians, with a repertoire encompassing swing, bebop, latin and jazz rock – including arrangements of classics such as ‘Just in Time’, ‘Green Dolphin Street’ and ‘Cherokee’.

Featuring some of the finest UK jazz musicians and the brilliant Spanish percussionist – Marc Miralta – Alec Dankworth’s latest project is inspired by the music of Spain. With folk tunes and flamenco rhythms coupled with jazz improvisation, compositions from the likes of Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie, and Jack DeJohnette plus Alec's originals, this promises to be a memorable opening evening of the festival.
